About Us

What Is IAC 36?

The International Aerobatic Club is a national organization that promotes the sport of precision aerobatics. IAC is organized into local chapters that provide training and host contests. IAC 36 is the chapter for Southern California.

IAC 36 was founded in 1975. Hundreds of pilots have started their aerobatic careers with us and many of them have gone on to compete at the world championships. We’re also one of the most active chapters in the country. We host two contests each year—one in April and one in October—that are usually the largest regional contests of the year.

Finally, IAC 36 also owns and maintains the world’s finest, permanent, surface-waivered aerobatic box. It’s right next to a 5,000′ runway and is visible from miles away. The vast majority of chapter dues goes to maintaining this box.

Why Should I join?

Aerobatics is the highest form of flying, but it’s often hard to find good training. How can you be sure you’re learning correct, safe habits? Reach out to IAC 36! We have members with decades of competition experience who are just waiting to help. Reliable advice is yours for the asking.

In addition to contests, IAC 36 also hosts coaching clinics and critique days. Judges watch your flying and tell you how to improve. There’s just no way to win without that!

And, finally, you’ll get to hang out with world-class pilots and a bunch of cool people. The flying is great, but so is all the fun and the laughs at 0′ AGL.

What About Events?

I Have Questions.

Great! Visit the Contact Us page to reach out and we’ll be happy to answer. You don’t have to be a pilot to participate; in fact some of longest-serving volunteers aren’t pilots.

How Do I Join?
